Seven Visual Story Components
Cue | Notes |
Space | deep space and flat space Limited space is a specific combination of deep and flat space Ambiguous Space The Film Frame Aspect Ratio The Digital Frame Aspect Ratio The Screen Aspect Ratio Surface Divisions use measurements like halves and thirds Contrast depicts settings |
Line and Shape | Controlling lines like patterns in the backgrounds and shapes and objects in the room The more forward or back and shape edges make a big difference in how people interpret the film quality and focus are commonly used for serious situations. |
Tone | Reflective Control (Art Direction) Incident Control (Lighting) Exposure (Camera and Lens Adjustments) using a scale of black to gray to white heavy shadows are shown to show more of a serious |
Color | when a movie or show has a flat neon color and no dept to the film it is most likely a comedy when it consists of the colors black white or gray it is most likely a serious film. |
Movement | when a character goes left they are typically the antagonist (in western movies) and if a character goes right it’s a good character or protagonist |
Rhythm | a constant pattern shown in the film (not just music wise) |
